About Us
The Bahamas Branch of STEP was established in 1996 and is well equipped to serve its members with a team of competent, qualified directors and officers.
Over the decades of the STEP Bahamas Branch’s existence, the Directorship has been made up of respected industry leaders and professionals, and has assisted in the continued growth of the branch and its mebers. Branch Directors who are serving in positions within STEP Worldwide continue to represent the Bahamas (and the region) and provide updates necessary to enhance the Branch.
In 2023, the inaugural STEP Bahamas Conference was held, wherein dozens of local and international speakers presented on an array of topics relevant to trust and estate planning. This annual conference delivers a world-class educational and networking experience to Bahamian practitioners and visitors alike; a first for the Bahamas Branch. In addition to the conference, the Branch hosts in-person and virtual learning sessions on specialized topics, presented by experts in the respective areas. These sessions allow for additional continuous learning opportunities for members.
The STEP Bahamas Branch partners with The Eugene Dupuch Law School to host the annual MOOT. The MOOT is a half day mock court session, wherein law students, under the guidance and training of attorneys at leading local law firms, debate on matters related to Trust & Estates.
The STEP Diploma in International Trust & Estates Management is administered by CLT International, and successful completion of the Diplomas is the most common way that individuals become a TEP (Trust and Estates Practitioner). More details regarding the STEP Diploma program can be found on the JOIN US tab at the top of the page.
The STEP Bahamas Branch’s office is located on the 2nd floor of the Montague Sterling Center on East Bay Street. Email: STEP.Bahamas@step.org.
The Bahamas Branch is a full supporter and presenter at The Nassau Conference hosted by the Association of International Banks & Trust Companies in The Bahamas and also share interests and resources with the Bahamas Association of Compliance Officers and the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants.
